welcome to the
Acupuncture Council of Ontario
The Acupuncture Council of Ontario (ACO) is an association for primary contact Regulated Health Professionals who have obtained certification to practice needle acupuncture with Traditional Chinese Medical and Biomedical backgrounds.
The ACO was created by the Ontario Chiropractic Association in 1995. Prior to the regulation of acupuncture and the subsequent creation of the College of Traditional Chinese Medical Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO), the ACO was the unofficial regulatory body for chiropractors providing needle acupuncture services. Insurance companies and WSIB acknowledged members of the ACO as certified practitioners who were eligible to bill for acupuncture services.
